Man am I excited! While digging around at the local antique store today, I found some gems! A Caminetto "Business" and a Jobey "Stromboli", and only $45 for the pair! Both are lightly smoked and in good shape! The Jobey is a "355" and the Caminetto, as best as I can tell, is a "107KS". Really, all they need is a good cleaning, and they're ready to go! I've never cleaned up any pipes with rustication this deep, so if anyone has any tips, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks guys! I usually don't find anything other than Graybows, Yellow Boles, and old MM cobs, but on occasion I find something really good! I think this is my best score to date!

Great pipes!...On the subject of cleaning- just a random thought that came to me on how to clean without abrasion- how about a dental water pic on low setting filled with alcohol....?? Won't raise the grain...should deep clean nicely...followed up by wax on a buff... Don't think I've ever seen anyone try it, so proceed with caution!(and do you remember not so long ago when "scoring big" had nothing to do with pipes... :laughat:

Thanks a lot guys! I've never had a Caminetto or a Jobey, I'm anxious to get them cleaned up and try them out! Anybody else have one of these? If so, I'd like your opinion on them.

I have a Jobey Stromboli that's just how they look, flat black with a few polished highlights, won't get much better.
Enjoy Tom

I have two Ascorti Radice Caminettos. Both are excellent smokers.

Enjoy your bona fortuna!

Great score. The Radice/Ascorti era Caminetto's are some of the best smoking pipes on the market. They smoke as good as any Castello and they can be had for relatively short money. Getting one for 27.50 is incredible, congrats on your new pipes.

Nice petes! I've sadly watched both pipe brands on ebay quickly climb out of my price range. :(
If they were mine, I'd softly scrub with spit and a tooth brush. I've found saliva to be a great gentle solvent. I'll do it with a charred rim and it usually takes the grime off while leaving the finish alone. As long as I don't get impatient and become too aggressive that is.
