Hi All , I used to buy this 6" flake in a 1lb tin a good few years ago . Eventually my tastes changed and I moved onto other types . I understand that Ogden's have now closed and production of some brands have moved overseas , but I can't find any info about the 6" scented flake . Is it still made somewhere today , perhaps under a different name ? .
Thanks for any replies

Sadly,

Ogden's of Liverpool is long gone.
A great loss.
Of the huge portfolio of different baccies they produced,

only St. Bruno and Walnut Flake remain in production,

made under contract in Denmark for Imperial.
I'd love to hear your description of what the Best Brown Scented tasted like!
Here's a couple of pages from the 1984 A.I.T.S tobacco index which shows a wide range of Ogden's tobacco...

Thanks very much for posting that , I didn't know there was a 12" version of the best brown flake . The taste and aroma of the scented flake is quite difficult to describe I'm afraid ; a wee bit soapy perhaps , no spice , no fruit either . More of a perfume type of scent which was quite appealing . I would imagine there were a number of ingredients with none dominating . It burned nicely and smoked well . My dad smoked it for years and I just copied him I suppose .
It's rather sad to see all those old flakes and mixtures and realise nobody will ever be able to enjoy them again .
