I love PA. And, what is really cool about it is that you can easily enhance it by putting some in a ziplock bag with a few drops of vanilla, cherry, or other extracts (or whiskey, liqueurs, etc...), and it makes as good or better of an aromatic as any I have ever tried, including the premier ones like McClleand, MacBaren, Peter Stokeby, etc....
PA has a wonderful nutty taste, a little like fresh pecans, and sweet, but not too sweet. It lights and burns perfectly. An almost perfect all-day, anytime smoke.
I used to be a tobacco snob, with my $100.00 plus Nording and Peterson pipes, and forced myself to try and like those boutique tobacco blends with the Latakia, Orientals, and strong enough to floor a Georgia mule. But I have evolve, or more properly de-evolved. I know enjoy the simple pleasures of a Missouri Meerschaum pipe and a simple, straight, honest tobacco...PA. It's back to the basics, at it's best. There is a reason why it has been on store shelves since 1907, unchanged, and has been inducted into the tobaccoreviews.com Pipe Tobacco Hall of Fame.

I love PA straight or as a mixer! I haven't smoked any straight in quite a while though, as I normally mix it. I blend it 50/50 with black cavendish ( Lane BCA or Smoker's Pride Black Cavendish) for a blend I call "Fat Albert", which makes for a delightful light aro!

I am constantly amazed at it's ability to mix with other tobaccos. Any tobacco that has "too much" of anything seems to be "fixed" by mixing with PA. If I don't like a blend, then I mix 1:1 or 2:1 with PA and see where it goes. It makes most blends palatable....including the (properly) maligned Paladin.

I've smoked PA off and on for thirty years. Other blends have come and gone, but PA has been the one constant. I smoke it straight, or add it to a blend, or even on occassion, when I've been drinking, use it as a roll up for cigarettes, like when I can't smoke my pipe.

PA has a wonderful evenness of flavor and burn. I have family loyalties to Granger, and strong recommendations

on Forums for Carter Hall, and an unopened can of Half-and-Half, but PA is good tobacco.

I've smoked PA since I began smoking a pipe more than 50 years ago now. Wow, that makes me a codger! I love PA, mix, straight, anyway you like it.
I also like Carter Hall and Walnut. I've had Half and Half, Grainger, SWR and Field and Stream, the old drug store stuff. They were once very prevalent in drug stores, along with Yellow Bowl and Dr. Grabow pipes.

I don't believe anyone should ever make excuses for their choices in what they enjoy smoking. Pipe tobacco is pipe tobacco, it doesn't matter what the ingredients are or if something is considered a boutique blend that is somehow better than an OTC. As long as you put tobacco in a pipe and enjoy it, you are a pipe smoker and you should never feel like you are less than for smoking a blend that is allegedly not as fancy as any other type of blend. If you love PA then that is what you should smoke and never feel like you should be smoking something that is considered better.
I am not much of a beer drinker but when I do drink a beer, I like to drink a Corona with a lime in it. I know people think that Corona is a Mexican piss beer but I could care less because that is what I enjoy.

Exactly !! I might add that it doesn't matter what pipe you smoke it in--a $6.00 cob or a $10,000.00 Bo Nordh.

You might be an odd ball, but not because you like PA. Many here have a codger blend or two that they like and continue to smoke along with their "better" blends. My preference is for Carter Hall (but PA is OK too) and I always have some around. Once in a while, nothing else will do.

I'll just add to what was already said. I love PA. I use it as a mixer as well. My favorite smoke is 1/2 PA, 1/2 CBG. Others burleys I have on occasion - Granger and SWR
