I have posted the refurb of a Meer lined Grabow previously here A Meer-lined Grabow. What to Do? :: Pipe Repair and Maintenance - https://pipesmagazine.com/forums/threads/a-meer-lined-grabow-what-to-do.94312/#post-36690670
reviewing I replaced the Meer lining with a mixture of plaster, charcoal and table salt. Reworked the finish etc, and smoked several bowls Virginia blends, non aromatic.
I’m surprised after many dunks in alcohol, cleaning the shank, sanding and all, I STILL have a Lakeland ghost. I can’t figure it out.
I can do the cotton ball treatment again, but I’m worried about ruining the plaster coating inside the bowl. Should I ream again and start anew.
During the refurb this bowl has been submerged in alcohol more than a pickle.
The Lakeland flavour must be baked into the walls of the briar.
Ideas welcome. Thanks in advance.
