My nephew came over and spent the weekend with me. He has always liked my pipe collection. He said that he told his mother he was going to get a pipe and she was not happy about it. He said, he liked the way my truck smelled of the tobacco I smoke and would like his car to smell like the Red Cake tobacco that's in a mason jar in my room. I tried the Red Cake but didn't like the taste of it. Being as he is 18 now I thought I would start him off in the right direction. I gave him a new Dr. Grabow I just ordered, the whole mason jar of Red Cake, a sheffield pipe tool and a bundle of pipe cleaners. Maybe he will enjoy his new hobby.

Way to go! Uncles rule!

Uncles are almost always the coolest of relatives.

They always get away with things the Nephew's mother would never approve of....

I sure she will get over it. She smokes nails. He has told me several times that I am the coolest uncle. :D I got a reputation to uphold.

My sister's about to have her first child...a boy. What do you think, five years from now I can get him a pipe? :nana:
I can see him sitting at the table, not happy about his pipe in hand...."But Uncle...I don't want to smoke it" "Hey now, you can't have your aromatic until you finish your English Blend....then you can go play w/ your little friends"

I talked to him today. He said he liked to taste of the Red Cake. I was out back puffing and reading. He came by and lit his pipe up too. We sat there and had a nice conversation.

My daughter (actually my step-daughter) is having her first child and will name her "Piper". When I told her that is a nickname for a pipe smoker she glared at me for a moment. That will not deter her and I will forever be able to say they named the first born after me. A while back I won a great Peterson estate pipe on eBay and when it arrived it was one of the small ones. I think I will give that as a baby gift. I would also like to buy tobacco to age until she is 18. What would you buy to age for 18 years?

Sundown, I know tobacco ages somewhat well in good conditions, but as for pipe tobacco, well...I think youll need something strong at first so when it mellows out with age (as all tobacco will) it will retain full flavor. 18 years is a long time for any tobacco, and of course it would need to be sealed to a near perfect state too. Sorry I cant give you any ideas as to what brand. Honestly, Id say dont spend too much on it because who knows if she will even take up smoking later?

Who cares if she takes it up or not. On her 18th B-day when you give it to her and she says "No thanks, I don't smoke."
You now have 18 year old Tobacco! It's a win-win!!
Will a cob hold soapy water? lol Bubbles...
