it's easier to accomplish with less training/skill.I agree that rustication has gotten better. That strange pattern they had before were rather puzzling.

A lot of things become expensive as time goes by. That doesn't mean I have to like it. Personal taste and all. Somethings I can understand as to the value it's demanding. Others, I couldn't careless. Dead man's pipe being called for $1-2k are few of those things I couldn't careless. The world will vote with its wallet, of course.
Me? I like the time machine feel of what they're doing. The 20's and 30's era Shells were generally available in first 10-15 years of the Estate Era, but had been mostly Hoovered up by the late 90's.
Today, they bring a high price when they do become available, and hunting them in the wild is the only economical option. (the board's Beefeater33 has had notable success doing this)
Having a source for new pipes that push the same aesthetic buttons is a welcome development, imo.
I have a lot of time on my handYou seem to care enough to take the time to tell us how much you don't care, though...
Wait. I'm confused...
Smokingpipes.com. Filter your searches by stem material.I don't see any with vulcanite.. where?
I did. None. What are you looking at? Every system is acrylic stem.Smokingpipes.com. Filter your searches by stem material.
Oy vay! ? The ones I mentioned in my post, the Deluxe and Spigot Systems! I'm NOT going to post links! ?I did. None. What are you looking at? Every system is acrylic stem.
I like themYou understand that that's EXACTLY why the first couple decades' of Dunhill Shell production are held in the highest esteem by collectors the world over, yes? The craggy "Mother Nature morphed shape" is one school of blasting's gold standard.
Try and buy one on eBay sometime for less than 1.5/2.0X what the shape usually sells for, and watch what happens.

The deluxe are all acrylic. Sorry but SPc is wrong. Look at the pic. It’s acrylic. Someone doesn’t know wtf they are doing there. There are zero new deluxe systems with vulcanite.Oy vay! ? The ones I mentioned in my post, the Deluxe and Spigot Systems! I'm NOT going to post links! ?
Or order one of these “vulcanite” system pipes and find out when it arrives that it’s acrylic. The deluxe are all acrylic. Sorry but SPc is wrong. Look at the pic. It’s acrylic. Someone doesn’t know wtf they are doing there. There are zero new deluxe systems with vulcanite.
a spigot “system” is just a system stummel with a spigot stem. It’s not a system pipe.
One of them "vuIcanite" stems that won't turn green? A miracle!Or order one of these “vulcanite” system pipes and find out when it arrives that it’s acrylic.
But I have noticed this before that some of the systems they list as vulcanite. Apparently the person creating the listing doesn’t know the difference. One of them "vuIcanite" stems that won't turn green? A miracle!

You’re right I’m a little tough on them. But they are the company that owns Peterson and since before Laudisi acquired it all system pipes have had acrylic stems. So I feel like they should know that... but I know I am assuming a lot about the knowledge or info provided to reps or whoever lists the pipes.Or maybe the box was mis-marked by someone in Ireland, and the mistake got innocently passed on.
I'm sure that stem material isn't checked when multi-hundred-pipe shipments get loaded on SP's warehouse shelves.
It's certainly worth correcting, but don't go off half-cocked. Everyone involved from the briar diggers and cutters to delivering what ends up in your hand years later wants you to be happy. Truly.
