I'm thinking I need one of these for my collection now. I have a briar zeppelin pipe that I enjoy, but rarely smoke since it's so old and there are signs of a potential burn through. This would be a fun and unique pipe, looking forward to hearing reports.

I'm enjoying mine, though I should note, holding a match in front of it is the easiest way I have found to light it.

as i am also a cigar smoker, i love this cob cigar, as i really didn't want to afford the cost of a morgan briar cigar. it's just a very natural way for me to smoke pipe tobacco, holding it like a cigar. it won't replace my pipes, but it is something that i will primarily use when i'm out and about, especially when i go to my local cigar bar. and i'm going to get a few more so i can keep the herfing going without the fear of burning out the cob stogie lol...

...hey now; the cob cigar is still a pipe, just a different style of pipe...my interest in pipe smoking is equal to my cigar smoking...i enjoy my english blends as much as nicaraguan/honduran/cuban stogies; i am lucky to have plenty of both...

When I first started smoking a pipe in the 70s I found an estate pipe which was shaped like a torpedo, with a pointed metal cap on the front. That was cosmetic though, it didn't load through the front, it had a small oval (like 3/8"X7/8") bowl cut into the thick part of the torpedo. I was truly clueless and didn't realize what the pipe was meant for (nobody I knew smoked weed in a pipe back then) and I smoked tobacco in it. Got some really shocked looks when I brought it to class in college :D

it smoked well enough, mine was hard to keep lit... probably because I didn't let the tobacco dry enough before using it. I was eager to try it I guess.

It smokes fine using one flake of Dunhill Flake rolled ( it's a perfect fit for the id of the pipe ) sticks out about 3/8's of an inch so I trimmed it back 1/4" to allow some space for topping with rolled out flake. I don't care much for the stem's mouthpiece, would pay extra if a cigar style holder with a real stem were an option, perhaps I can find a vintage cigar stem with the right dimensions to fit it, if anyone else decides to do this, or if you know of some maker who is making an aftermarket mouthpiece for the Cob Cigar please post it, other than that I like it.

The stem on mine didn't fit quite right, like it was crooked. May be early production run flaws, but still like how it smokes.

A little beeswax on the tenon of the mouthpiece before you start smoking it will make it easier to remove the bit when you want to. The draft hole in the chamber is very small, so it might plug up on you. It can easily be cleared with a piece of wire.
I got mine in a couple of days ago but haven't tried it yet. I noticed also that the stem doesn't sit flush. It is also very tight, couldn't get it out. May have to stick it in the freezer for a while. Noticed also that the stem is hard to hold when I ain't wearing my dentures-- and I don't wear them around the house. May have to make a different stem.

Vulcanite, the description says acrylic. But a quick thumb rub, and I smell burning rubber.

..after about 4 bowls of breaking in (with carter hall), the cob cigar is smoking well, and it does need a careful break in...i find it a real joy to be able to smoke my different pipe tobacco flavors "cigar style"...it's only drawback is that it's a 15-20min smoke at best, so i have bought another so that i can have another one ready to fire up while the other one cools off...
and it's way easier to drive with a cob cigar then a regular pipe...no issues clenching with the tip at all; it's very light...
