It is a cool night here in West Georgia, I know nothing like it is in the North, which is good for me, just cold enough to enjoy a smoke, but not too cold. There is a light breeze blowing. I had been reading a thread about a Vaper and it made me hungry for a smoke so I chose a small bowled pipe, my Nording Bear and went out to smoke a bowl of Escudo. The coins are the perfect moisture and break and pack so nicely. It is a moonless dark with lots of stars and as I stood and smoked that sweet yet peppery goodness I decided that one of my favorite sights is a nice cherry in the bowl. That perfect red glow emanating from inside the bowl, a little spark goes up once in awhile, and the product is a buffet of flavor in the mouth. Tonight it reminded me of the root beer barrels I used to eat as a kid, but it is always a little something different. Mmm Escudo.

Funny, the way a scent or flavor can prompt the memory. That's a great recall of the root beer barrels, a candy I remember well.

They were brown, the little candy barrels, but always seemed to have a light dusting of sugar on the outside, not from being

dusted with it, I don't think, but just from being jostled around in the box. A little more raw here in the Carolinas, wintry, but

not frigid.

Shaintiques--I envy you. It's a bit cooler up here in New England, and we're slated for a few days of near zero weather this coming week. Being able to sit outside on a dark night and see the cherry in your bowl is truly a peak experience. Lucky man.
