If by chance I have what would be considered as a 'detailed' post I simply type it up on MOW, review it and then C&P it. It's not all that hard, much less time consuming. Other than that, 10 minutes is MORE than enough time to catch ones mistakes and correct them if needed.

I do the same thing as Kevin when I post. Misspelled words that should be caught by proofreading drive me bonkers, as does not using the shift key when you should. Sometimes I still get the speling wrong.

There seem to be a core group of folks on here that just don't write incindiary things. Since that is not in your nature, I can see how you would want to keep or expand the window for edits.
There are others who are less controlled in their conveyance of ideas or worse, change the post to make themselves look better or ambush another user. Kevin made the decision to tighten the edit window for those who lack the integrity to stand behind their words.
I am fine with the decision. But understand that since I do a great deal of my posting from my phone and my thumbs aren't small, you will be getting a greater occurance of gramatical errors in my future posts.
I for one am fine with that, but there have been others here in the past who have been a tad cranky when the structure/grammer/spelling has been lacking.

I honestly wouldn't have but to be fair, I never knew what the limit was to begin with. I just knew if I didn't get to it soon, I might not be able to at all.

I may be the only one, but posting pictures has always been a challenge for me. Sometimes I can redo all of my pics within 10 minutes, I guess. I never timed the procedure.
I get the whole edit thing when someone is devious and trying to embarrass someone else.

Facebook leaves the editing open at all times, but anyone can see the edit history... This is how I like my editing options.
That being said 10 minutes is helpfull because I do try to proof read and I am able to catch things early normally, but a lot of the time I post from my phone (like this post) and then I'm more likely to miss something... Also, I will often re-read or be thinking about my previous posts and wish I could reword what I have written to be better said.
Anyway, thank you for the 10!

I almost always post from my iPhone and just reread before I hit 'Send'. No edit would stop me posting, but 10 minutes is fine. And if I make mistakes, well - I'm human.

I just tried to edit my first post to say that I 100% approve of the decision to lower to 10 minutes, and even suggest dropping to to 5 minutes...but for some reason, I can't edit it... :crying:

Very true. However, it was meant tongue-in-cheek. I have a weird sense of humor.
It all honesty, I have only wished that I could have re-edited a post here a couple times..

once was due to gramer correctiongs.. heheh..

and the other was due to image links that broke due to misunderstanding how google drive works.
As was posted earlier, all other forums that I have been on have allowed permanent edit abilities. I knew there was a limit here a few months ago, however, I was unaware of how long the edit window was. I will continue to post here regardless, however, windowless would simply be my preference.

I have always just assumed that editing is an ephemeral possibility which is why I stare a hole in my posts before I click the button and immediately thereafter. I catch 99.99 percent of spelling and grammatical errors this way. Attempting to correct errors of judgement is much more problematic.

I have edited a few times. Mostly it's spell-fails, but I have also done it a few times when I reread the thread and figured out that what I had posted made me sound like a dick or was attacking someone, because I had misunderstood a comment or a post. I suppose that I can still just comment again saying sorry or explaining. I wouldn't ever want to intentionally put someone down or sound like I'm being a snob, ...unless it was obviously self-deprecating in a funny way.
If someone is changing a post that they realized was being a jerk, I guess they are just screwed. So, watch what you say. Or, I should say that I should watch what I say, ha ha.

Sure. Admins can do that already. But admins have scruples, and that's just so limiting.
