That sucks man ! Mustangs on wet roads scare the hell out of me. I've never driven one, but in the few years I drove trucks I saw more than a few mustangs completely lose their ass on slick roads. One I nearly killed in the exact situation you described. I was doing 70 and he raced up the ramp to beat me, hadnt passed me by 10 feet when he completely lost it, started spinning and if I hadnt been expecting the whole thing to happen theres no way I could have slowed down or changed lanes and he would have been T-boned in the drivers door by 80,000 pounds of diesel doing 70.

I was able to brake and change lanes just fast enough to avoid it, I still believe there was less than 2 inches between my truck and his ford when I passed and he bounced off the concrete wall another 3 times that I could see in the rearview.

Mustangs and wet roads do not mix well.

Driven carefully just like other cars, Mustangs are just fine in rain, etc. I have been driving them for 25 years and have learned when to have fun and when not to. Its really all about the driver.

I would tend to agree with you voorhees. Ive owned mustangs, camaros, and trans-for about 10years and even driven them in the snow as a daily driver. This one was outta my control. I wasnt trying to have fun. Like i stated i controlled it enough to point i didnt hit anything. I was struck by another driver, but since i had lost control at one point it was my fault.

Starting to Get Obsessed
As others have said, glad you are here to keep posting. Mustangs are great cars, I'm on my 3rd one now ('85 5.0, '95 5.0 & now a '10 4.6) I have lost more than one of them, not intending too, just easily rounding a corner in 2nd gear with rear tires wet. They can be a handful but I certainly DO hate it for you man.

Our 96 Impala SS, rear wheel drive; with four snow tires was a HOOT in the winter. With 1000 lbs of cat litter in the trunk I drove thru a 15" snowfall, passed 10 up ended SUV's to pick up my daughter from college.

Never had a Mustang but I doubt they are as dangerous as many believe. If you know how to handle them and when not to mash (or lift off) the throttle or the brake, high-torque RWD cars can be handled fairly easily. My G8 hates the snow but will deal with everything else easily. Sometimes though, in a muscle/sports car those wide tires will just catch a pool of water and you will be hydroplaning and there is nothing you can do but try to hang on. I really hope you can salvage this one and get back on the road.
