Nording Compass Metal Pipes

Hello, I’d like to get any opinion on Nording Compass Metal pipe.
How it is smoking? Is it getting hot? How is the draw? Is it not too small? Anything to help me make a better decision before I buy it.
Visually, I like it , but actually never tried Nording pipes

I have the full briar version and like it quite well.

It's a smaller chamber but it great for stronger blends or when I have less time to smoke. I'm actually thinking of just keeping it in my day pack for hiking which I think it would be ideally suited for.

I haven't had issues with it getting hot and the metal version is a metal wrap around briar so with the smaller chamber and slower smoking it should not be an issue.

I've had zero issues with the draw.

I like all of my Nording pipes for being good smokers, durable, and well-produced. I'm not attracted to the Compass pipes, nor the Eltang basics, because I feel other pipes do the same job better, from MM cobs to some of the good American factory pipes, to the old Nording econo-pipes like the Eriksen. Now this is just me being subjective and a little prejudicial, but the exaggerated simplicity of the Compass and the Basic looks like an affectation to me, like the fad for selling new jeans with holes in them. There are good basic pipes with a long history of service. These seem down market in a pretentious way, to me. Sorry. I like to support other peoples' PAD, but since I have an opinion, I'm sharing it.

I have two (one full briar, one metal with briar insert) and I find them to be perfectly suited to what I bought them for. Easily transportable, durable, ultra light and clenchable, easy to clean, reliable (no drilling issue), super packable, cheap enough to take anywhere, and a diverse shape.

Mine doesn’t get hot at all, but that will depend on your cadence. The draw is just fine, and I can make mine last an hour with flake.

I just got a Nording Compass as an early fathers day gift (wife gave it to me early because I was threatening another pipe purchase?) and I love it! I second everything said about easy clenching and light weight convenience, but I also love the look of this thing. It's got a real popeye the sailor man feel about it. I have also discovered that a coin of escudo or Bullseye flake fits perfectly when using fold and stuff, so I've decided to dedicate it to just those two blends as they are both daily blends for me. Couldn't recommend it any more strongly, especially at it's reasonable price point.

PS: mine has a briar bowl with the standard metal stem. I know there are all metal versions of this, but have no experience with them.

Have one. Not a big fan. Bowl gets hot, feels flimsy, not a great smoker. I am a fan of small light pipes. If you want one there are better choices out there. For example, try a Ropp bulldog.

In the cold, I found that the cold metal stem collected a ton of condensation. In decent weather, it smokes fine. Good alternative to a cob if you’re going on the water and would rather briar.

I have two (full briar). They are great lightweight clenchers. One of them whistles but you only notice with empty chamber. Good smokers, no complaints there.

Mine are not balanced and cannot remain standing on their own.

The big problem with them in my experience is that the metal stems after a few months of use no longer fits snugg enough on the stummels (on both of them) and I'm worried of dropping the stummels.

You might actually be right about that as Nörding according to what I've heard has moved most production from Denmark to Poland.

Thank for your opinions. Compass sized like my Savinelli 109 but little longer and metal version has more weight, feeling more substantial.

109 gives me an hour or so of slow pleasant smoke doing better with ribbon cut than with flakes to avoid getting too hot.

Another option I wanted Nording Valhalla 302 carved- short and a little bigger bowl. Let see there are many options for small, inexpensive pipes for example Rossi piccolo or Butz choquin lines.
