A comment about Mr Brog pipes...

After using my 3 Brog pipes for 2 months the stems on two of them just broke last night within minutes. Just called Mr Brog customer service at 212-366-5483 and they told me they will replace the stems since they are less than 6 months old.

One split in the middle while pulling it out from the stummel to clean it. see pic. The other one the tenon broke off while knocking it against my hand.

Plastic, acrylic I assume.

Do a google search for "mr brog broken stems" and you get plenty of results.

My BIL has a homemade pipe out of apple wood.

He really likes it, a guy he works with made it for him.
I would assume pear and apple wood have very similar characteristics.

I have burned both in the wood stove, it can be hard to tell them apart.

The stems of Mr. Brog pipes are made from ABS plastic. This is what puts me off...
