So I have been on the hunt to no avail, I am seeking help from the experts. I am not a fan of aromatics I keep trying them and just they do nothing for me. I have been trying to find a non aro with a good room note. I like Virginia's whether with other tobacco or straight. My go to is Dunhill Flake and the Escudo Navy and once in awhile I smoke Trout Stream(which I enjoy) on occasion. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Frog Morton cellar. I cross between an English and an aromatic. Full of flavor and a nice room note. It does contain Latika which some people are opposed to though.

It really depends on what you mean by "good" room note. I like the smell of all non aro's, it would help if you told what you didnt like the room note of.

I think McClellands 5100 has a relatively pleasant fragrance in the house. But you know the ultimate judge of

these things; you have to ask her.

As far as what I didnt want I have no idea, just something with a little bit of sweetness so its not just the smoke you smell. I dont know if that makes sense or not.

Then I would recommend any of the frogs because theyre light in my opinion, c&d grey havens, dunhill elizabethan, pretty much any of the solani blends, thats just off the top of my head i'll think of some more and get back to you.

Thanks for your input guys. I smoke outside as a general practice but once in awhile like to light up midday and want to keep the staff happy and not smoke them out.

I’m reviving this thread as I’m looking for some suggestions to represent the pipe community at Lockn in Aug. Looking for something tasty, but something that others around me can enjoy the smell of. Preferrably mild to medium in strength so I don’t turn green from puffing all day. I was thinking some Escudo or a sweet VA, and maybe an English as a second blend for night time puffing.
Recommending something that’s impossible to find is meaningless unless you’re offering ... I’d love to be blingin’ to the gills with Esoterica but that aint happening (and I’d rather enjoy a rare blend like that by myself, in a contemplative mindset on my deck, listening to the wildlife) :puffy:
PS - I get it “pleasant room note” is subjective, which is why I’m asking for opinions

Give Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake a go. Nice tasty VA flakes with a great room note. And it ages very very well. And it is low priced. And I love it.

Buy a bit of 1Q bulk, and add just a bit to the straight VA’s you enjoy. You’ll have to experiment, but I’ve found it possible to add enough to improve the room note without ruining what I like about certain blends. It doesn’t work with everything, and may not work at all for you, but worth a shot.

I am always surprised when pipesmokers post something about the smell of tobacco smoke not being a wonderful aroma. Personally, I find the majority of aromatic tobaccos to stink. When I walk into somewhere where aromatics are being burned, they have a hot wax smell that of course the smoker can’t smell. Sure, some smell tasty, but give me the aroma of unadulterated tobaccos, burleys, Virginias, Latakia, orientals, or even cigars.
There’s a new cigar bar opening up just two blocks from my house. I went down for the grand opening, and so many people had read “bar”without paying attention to the “cigar” part. People were coming in and pinching their noses to the wonderful nutty, cedar, tobaccoey aromas of the cigars being burned. These idiots were ordering drinks, and complaining to management about the smoke. Luckily, our mayor smokes a pipe and occasionally smokes cigars, so there are no smoking laws in our city restricting smoking inside businesses. But, if you don’t like the smell of smoke, as so many here seem to agree with, why smoke? Why not just smoke incense or burn candles as a hobby? I may be thick-headed, but I can’t understand a pipesmoker that thinks his hobby stinks. Relish the aroma. It is a gift of the gods.

Just want to go on record stating I love the smell of just about all pipe tobacco. I’m looking for blends that appeal to non-pipe / non-smokers though. I’ve asked my wife for feedback as well but she really doesn’t stick around while I enjoy a pipe, so looking to the communitys experience / feedback to broaden my options. Hell, if I get to explore a new blend while trying to attain my objective, BONUS!
I’d be blissfully happy smelling secondhand Nightcap or Odyssey via a choochoo smoker in an enclosed space; I’d be downright drooling in complete contentment!
I’ll read up on Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake, thx Mike.
Mwsmoker ... thx for the idea on mixing in some Lane 1Q (or Checkmate as my local B&M calls it). I have a jar of the stuff that never gets used. Gives me another option

I have posted about it a few years ago (so long that I can't find the thread), but with a little training, compassion, and constant reinforcement, it is possible to train a wife to enjoy your smoke. But, beware, you may have to tolerate something she enjoys doing also. :puffy:
Mostly, if someone wants to hang around me bad enough, they have to tolerate my stinch. Otherwise, life is too short for me to hang with someone who does not.

I love the smell of tobacco and I’m fortunate to have a wife who doesn’t mind it at all, occasionally she’ll even share a cigar with me. Recently I smoked a My Father Flor de la Antilles and I found the aroma incredible. As far as great smelling tobacco I recommend LTF and Solani 633, but personally I think tobacco smells great in general.

^^^ Thx for the ideas ... Solani has been on the “explore” list; will check that out as well.
@cosmic ... always interested in wife training ideas. I thought those e-collars would be a great idea, though I came to my senses due to a) escalation, and b) my private parts (see point a) ...
In all seriousness, she’s never harrased me whatsoever about pipe smoking .. she has chosen to neither hate or like the smell though, so conversations on the topic are meaningless. The redline to war has been drawn at smoking in the house with kids living under the roof - I have chosen politcal diplomacy in the meantime, with my claiming the garage as an outdoor area in winter
Will revisit the issue once the house census reveals the demographic has changed; a man cave should of course also be determined to be an outdoor area :D

A lot of the codger blends have a good room note, and anglers dream follows suit. Not really aromatics, but good smelling and smokable all day. I particularly like the Mid Town series Chatham Manor and Prince Andrew.
