I hope the best outcome for you and a complete recovery.
I always found whenever i was forced to quit my pipe it helped to enjoy the smell of whatever tins I had open at the time.

This is rough my friend. I'm sorry to hear it. I may have to stop for sometime soon, if they do surgery on my back. It sounds stupid, but I don't drink alcohol, so smoking is a huge part of my life. I honestly don't know what I'd do.....

When I first read the title I was going to joke about borrowing your Petersons in the meantime. Really sorry to hear that you’re going through this. Hope you don't have to give up the pipe but there's a lot of life apart from pipe smoking, as I’m sure you know. Keep us posted on how things go.
Nothing wrong with morbid humor, I expect the OP appreciates it.
Hey bullit, come back soon.

As UB 40 commented, I've heard that nicotine restricts the blood flow in capillaries, the smallest blood vessels.

I'm no doctor. Just from personal experience ask them to check your thyroid levels which can sometimes correct blood flow.

When I've had dental work or dermatology work, I've quit smoking to let the areas heal.

Fast healing and good health to you. Stick around and keep us posted.
