best kept secret IMO.

Actually, not much of a secret as much as a recent misconception. Greg Pease built his whole business model on the fact that aged latakia blends are remarkable. It only has been recently that people have been repeating misinformation about latakia, burleys, and aromatics not aging well.
I've had aged Nightcap. Yep, it goes bad after 15 years or so, terrible, so send those nasty tins to me. I will consume them so that no one else has to deal with such a disaster as aged latakias. :puffy:

Can't Leave
As long as the tins are sealed leave them that way.
Another factor to consider affecting the success in the integrity of the tins is how they are stored. It's too bad those tins couldn't fit intact inside a Mason/Ball jar, that would ensure that the tin's integrity would pretty much be OK over 35 years.

Also, your time capsule tobacco will be a good inducement to drive carefully, pay attention to nutrition, and keep you exercise regime.

Seal the tin in one if those plastic food storage bags were the pumps sucks all the air out.To be safe do that three times then dip it in wax a few times then store It in an air tight container. That way when I smoke my first pipe it will be fresh tobacco.

Ok...I bought a 5 pound bag of MM965, it's factory sealed.
I'm sorta lazy and had thought I would just leave it in the heavy plastic bag, I mean if it's good enough for the factory...
I have a dozen or so quart jars, I could melt a gallon of wax, I could buy a vacuum sealer...
I don't foresee opening the bag for a year or more, I'm skeered.

Smoke it?
That was the plan...I guess I should ask,
Does anyone have experience with long-ish term storage of a factory sealed 5 lb. bag of MM965 (or similar)? If so, what's good/bad?
It's in my sort of temp controlled mid-America basement with my alcohol, tobacco and firearms.

Well, that was the plan..."never do today what I can put off 'till tomorrow" and all.
I was thinking... put in jars when I open it... whenever.
