Good information all. Like most things I'm learning about pipe smoking, there are a variety of opinions about nearly every issue, but there seems to be a consensus in a broad, general way.

Five Brothers gave me the spins, also, the Gawith rope tobaccos are notorious for high nicotine content.
Few blends have a noticeable nicotine kick, and most have been mentioned here including Nighcap, Five Brothers,
1792. Many may have a little, but it goes unnoticed. Despite the burley discussion, I get minimal effect from
burley based blends like Granger or Prince Albert, and little from Lane's Burley Without Bite. 4noggins Tambolaka
from Indonesia seems to be described as high nicotine. If you are sensitive, I'd just avoid these. If you like a little
buzz, but don't crave it, I'd go with small bowls and a very slow smoking pace. It's incidental to me, but I enjoy
it just once in a while. With Nightcap, the high test nic seems to fade after the tin is opened for a while, not
completely, but somewhat.

I am gathering that nicotine hit is a function of:
a. Tobacco type and blend.
b. Individual physiology.
c. Smoking technique. To include bowl size and puff rate.

I would try any tobaccos you think sound good, and smoke smaller increments, more slowly, until you can tolerate more nicotine, Highlander.
My two cents... five brothers will give you a nic hit... I am a cigarette smoker turning pure pipe smoker and I still need my nic fix in the morning. But.. that shag cut of five brothers will leave you with the feeling you just smoked a whole pack of cigs at one time. My curren favorite is Daybreak by Hearth & Home... I get a nice flavor from this blend .. its very smokey and evolves as you puff away.. and it also satisfies my nic needs as well. You could easily smoke this all day long if you wanted to. Hope that helps.
