I always say this when threads like this are posted, but if you are taking any new medications that can be a cause for this.

I've been through it.

Talking to your doctor about how you can't smoke like you want will probably go over like a turd in the punch bowl.

It shouldn't be like that but it is...

Your doctor will say you have adverse reactions to smoking because "SMOKING IS BAD."
My doctor is okay with my pipe smoking.

I’ve never experienced headaches, but I have noticed more of an effect than previously, mostly a case of the spins.
The blends that I smoke are all pretty mild in the nicotine department, so this is a change.
Smoking after a meal helps, also being careful to remain hydrated helps. Being even a little dehydrated affects me much more these days.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Any of us could drop dead today.

If I were experiencing headaches like you are, I would seek a trusted doctor’s advice.
While it is very true that any of us could drop dead today… I think you may have mistakenly read beyond what the OP was meaning…. When he said “growing older is guaranteed” I think he was meaning more that you CANNOT grow younger. Contextually, he was (IMO) saying it in terms of a guaranteed direction for life…. not that it could not end anytime.

As I have gotten older, I tend to feel LESS effects from nicotine compared to when younger. Some of the effects are ones I miss, too. And they have not returned even if I have taken a fast from smoking.

Hello friends! I just had my 72 birthday, and I am just BEGINNING to "feel" old ... or "older." Not that this is a huge disappointment, I understand that growing older is one of the few guarantees. So, I am a very long time pipe smoker. In the past, smoking a bowl for over an hour was routine. Generally, I have two pipes a day, one in the morning with coffee, the other in the late afternoon, also with coffee. Now, even with low nicotine blends, I'm getting weird headaches after about 45 minutes. Has my capacity for nicotine changed? I think so. Anyone else experience this sort of thing?

Kindest regards from Western Massachusetts,
Jerry
Hello Sir, Happy Belated Birthday! Try smoking some natural blends. Untopped tobaccos. It could be the additives or the [PG] could be causing headaches. Cornell and Diehl's Pegasus and Winchester are fantastic older style blends. C&D uses only natural additives and flavorings.

I don’t get headaches from smoking, but I find my mouth, throat and sinuses do not get irritated with the more natural blends as with some of the heavily topped and flavored blends. I am mostly smoking C&D burley blends, Daughters and Ryan burley and Virginia tobaccos, Five Brothers etc. I smoke the topped blends I have on hand occasionally, but I am not buying more.

Thank you! I have solved my problem with 30 minute bowls, instead of 60 - 75 minutes of smoking.
