Title hugely changed to add specificity and remove jargon.-jpm

As I was responding to a thread started by @hoosierpipeguy about the philosophy of cellaring tobacco, I found that my fingers did not quite work as expected. There were more typos than normal and I found my perception of all things to be a rather...off. I then felt like the world was spinning faster than I liked and it hit me...I just smoked myself wonky. The vitamin K crept up and gave me a sudden medulla slap (any martial arts or fight practitioners will know all about that). I realize I have not been smoking a pipe for long, but most blends do not have much of an effect on me other than to maybe make me a bit tired before bed. Only once had I experienced some wobble to my legs, but that was after a rather long/large bowl of something.

The culprit tonight (and one that I will be certain to respect a tad more): C&D's Sansepolcro. I am thinking it was the cigar leaf.

I do have a question for the group here: Which is your tummy tingler blend? Your Shrek? Your "ohhhhh...I made a horrible mistake...I should have stopped a ways back"?

Whatever you smoke, that has a decent amount of nic in it, not a good idea to smoke on an empty stomach.

Getting woozy and light, or sleepy isn’t the worst of it, my chest can really bother me and give me palpitations. I personally have to start smoking lighter blends, or really go slow, or don’t smoke to much.

I could never smoke like Jim... LOL 😆

P.S. For anyone that really has bad side effects, or uncomfortable, look at taking Activated Charcoal, it’s amazing and in an hour or less of taking it I feel better.

I smoke on an empty stomach in the mornings when I have my coffee and pipe. I have never had a problem with it. I think the act of sipping on a beverage helps, though. I found that ice water was always a life saver back in my cannabis days. Kept things from getting out of control. Perhaps that is what has kept me from getting nic-sick with pipes?

Never had to use activated charcoal for anything nicotine related, but I think it is effective for illnesses. Works wonders for many stomach/gut issues, and I think it for my frequent bloating bouts.

I smoke quite infrequently and favour mild to medium blends, so I haven't had any recent overdoses of vitamin N. Perhaps the only time that has happened was with Nightcap, but it was the headspins, no nausea, and there could have been other factors in play.

Keeping hydrated with water is a plus, that’s for sure.

Activated Charcoal has provided me with the fastest relief, an hour or less, even when my chest is very uncomfortable and bad palpitations from the nic, they subside very quickly. So I always make sure I have a bottle of the stuff. Great also for cleaning out a crappy system, or when you’re feeling like major crap too.

But it’s my understanding it can leech the body of essentials like vitamins/minerals, so I only use when I really need it.

Absolutely. Everyone is different. I was trying see which blends were their "need to be careful" blends.
Haven't really ran into one of those. HH Rustica put me down once but that was only because I smoked four flakes at once. Usually if I'm wanting nicotine when smoking a pipe I have to have chewing tobacco or dip in my mouth while smoking.

Here
MB HH Bold Kentucky seems to usually disable me to some extent.

CAO Flathead 660's are the cigar version. About 2/3 through one, I begin thinking there are other things for me to be doing.

Both have a great flavor and I am careful to smoke slow and easy. I believe that further increases the nic intake problem.

Other, stronger blends, like the ropes, don't seem to hit me as hard, so it's a bit of a mystery to me.

Imagine a cigar filled with HH Bold Kentucky wrapped with a dark fired leaf!

I'm a nic whimp, so I steer clear of strong blends
I check on Tobacco Reviews the strength of the blend before buying.

Peterson Irish Flake was the only blend that sat me back down on my behind.
I now smoke it in a gourd calabash. The increased air volume of the gourd ameliorates the nicotine strength.

Pipe tobacco doesn't hit me. Before I changed my medications, Marlboro Red first thing in the morning will give me a knee bender. But don't even get that now days. Not clearly sure which med caused the change. I haven't changed any other wonderfully healthy life style I live (a pot of coffee before 10, half pack of cig a day, ton of pork and beef, occasional binge drinking, pipe smoking, no exercise...)
