Just received my latest tobacco order from SmokingPipes.com and was pleasantly surprised to see that all 10 of my tins of Frog Morton on the Town were from 2011. Instant aging!
Pretty cool.

Last 2 digits on MC codes show the year?

Yes. And the two before that show the month. And the two before that show the blend code.

Hmm, I don't think so;

I bought 5 MC tins last year;

3 British Woods 100 gr tins marked 371611, 371509, 371?09

2 Bombay Extra 100 gr tins both marked 360209.
I suppose first 2 digits is the blend and last 2 digits is the year. Don't know about middle 2; batch number or something?

Were these tins purchased in the USA from a USA vendor? Maybe codes differ in overseas shipments differ?

Yes, purchased from smokingpipes and cup'o joes (and 1 Frog Morton tin from 4noggings) and shipped to the other side of the pond. I don't think they have different tins to send over here.
