Brooklyn, yeah that's a 21 Tasting in my avatar. Funny, I was just looking at that 23 Tasting ring grain Pot at SP too, guess that's the one you're referring too?

Clicking on links has never bothered me, but if it makes life easier for some people, I will take your suggestion from now on. I will of course still include the link for more detailed information.
I think I am going to only be buying from sources within Canada in order to only pay the 13% tax I have to pay, and to avoid customs charges, and other such nonsense.
Speaking of sources within Canada, I found this:

Capri Warlock 1

There's also a Warlock 2 and 3: https://victorypipes.ca/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=churchwarden+warlock
These seem like nice looking churchwardens, and from the review I watched on them, they sound good for the price.

Since you mention Vauen, dark, and affordable I would also point out the Olaf line which I think look like a good, matte, workingman's pipe.

If you are in Canada, Brigham pipes are readily available for $60-$80 at most tobacco shops, and most that I've seen have a dark finish.

Good call. Plus, they have the rock maple system type filters and you might like those as well. Do you have to pay duties and taxes on importing pipes into Canada? I knew tobaccos were subject, a bit surprised to hear pipes themselves.

Still no decision until tomorrow at least, but this is a serious contender:

only 2 hours away from me, canadian so canadian prices, etc.

Right now I'm looking at the Tsuge Tasting pipes, specifically the 16:

It says it doesn't come with a filter, but I wonder, could I use a filter with it if I want? I do prefer to use a filter, to limit nicotine intake.

There's no way to use a traditional stem pipe filter with a non filter pipe, that I know of.
However, there are various filters that you place in the bottom of the bowl. ie. Denicool, Nording Keystones, Philtpads or activated carbon.
The activated carbon is the only one I've tried. It reduces bite significantly, but also changes the flavor of the tobacco.

Well, my current briar is also non-filter, and it doesn't give me a problem. I assume as far as nicotine goes, since you're not inhaling (at least not on purpose), it's not that big of a deal. I assume. I may be wrong of course.

Most of the "filters" for pipes aren't really filters. Only ones with charcoal. Rest are more of absorbers for the moisture. Which you don't really need if you dry your tobacco upfront. Charcoal does "mute" the taste for me, so I opt for balsa inserts.

Fauen are fine. You can't go wrong. I just started on an Adagio 1237 and it smokes great and is a solid pipe.
Olkofri's Basic Apple there looks really nice...
