Felt good to watch hockey last night, better to see Luongo still continuing to go downhill. Even Frosty the Snowman doesn't meltdown as fast as Roberto.
Let's Go Blues! I really want us to at least make the Western Conference finals. Kent Hitchcock is an awesome coach and we seem to be getting better every year and best of all Petro got locked into a seven year deal... Woohoo! I'm so glad hockey is back; I was getting bored waiting all week for a football game.
Prism finally got the NHL Network, so I got to watch some games today. That Leafs/Sabres games was pretty wild. Good contest. The shoot out took forever! I did enjoy Paul Ranger's kick shot lol. Fifteen rounds! Thank God the NHL shortened the pads two inches so McClement could put one home and end it.
Jackets looked pretty good against the Pens today. They let em climb back with a hat trick from Jokinen, but staved it off and Boone Jenner got the GWG with his second of the day. Mackenzie capped it off with an empty netter. Good to see the kids in Columbus developing nicely. Jenner had a solid outing and so did Atkinson. Murray looked at home on D. The Bob played pretty well. Should have had Jokinen's third goal, but still got the win and it's only preseason.

My Kings are looking good on paper and at the rink. Seeing Willie Mitchell back on the ice for 23 minutes last night was a good thing. I think the have a great chance to win the Pacific and make another strong run at the cup. Drew Doughty for Norris and Kopi for Selke and Quick ( aka Yoda) for the Vezina. Go Kings Go!
What the hell was up with John Scott?!? Holy crap! He just jumped Kessel. I know he can be a douche at times, but I've never seen him do anything to warrant something like that. I don't blame him for hacking at Scott. I probably would have done the same thing with a guy coming at me who has 7 inches and about 80lbs on me. Pretty surprised Kess only got suspended the remainder of the preseason. I would have tacked on about four or five games into the regular season. One thing's for sure, I've circled November 15th on my calendar (the next Sabres/Leafs game).
I do not mean to be too aggressive with my response: but John Scott was not the problem in that fight. Leafs player gets in a fight with a smaller guy (which is fine) but at the end of the fight pushes his head into the ice (not ok). Sabres send out our tough guy to respond (perfectly ok). Leafs at home have last change and send out Kessel (also ok but their optioin). Scott and Kessel talk before the puck drops and both turn to get into it. Kessel then swings his stick like an animal twice. How is Scott an animal when the Leafs had every chance to take Kessel off the ice?

We gave up on hockey down here in Texas. Every time we built a rink the players would drown. Guess the ice melted too fast.
I did go to a boxing match once and a hockey game broke out.

That was definitely not the right way to handle that situation from Buffalo's part.
When Matt Cooke ended Marc Savard's career Claude Julien didn't send out Shawn Thornton on the next shift to jump Crosby. Boston handled it the way it should have been handled. They supported their teammate and then waited until the next contest to settle it with the player who was at fault.
I think both coach Rolston and John Scott are at fault. Rolston for sending him out and Scott for going after a known finesse player who had never fought in the NHL and had no part in the incident that sparked it.
I do think Kessel should have gotten suspended for taking two hacks at him and later coming back and spearing him. There's never a good excuse for doing that. He should have gotten 5-7 games on top of the rest of the preseason for it, but it is Sheriff Shanny.
It'll be interesting to see how the Leafs handle that next game on November 15th.

So the Winter Classic will be in DC 2015. I'm going to need to find out where to stand in line. I really hope it's at Nationals Park since Fed Ex already said no.
I'm excited for that one. Should be a good setting for the Winter Classic. I just hope they don't play the Penguins again.
In Philly I'm interested in seeing how Jake Voracek does. When he came into the league with Columbus I thought he had the potential to be a 30-40 goal man and break the 100pt mark. Tremendous skill and a decent sized frame. Could be a solid player for a while to come.
