I've seen Steve's post. In fact I think I've seen all the current thought on CPF (with most of the posts referring to the same few factoids) and frankly it doesn't amount to much. The marque remains elusive.
What I'm trying to suggest is that I think the notion that CPF was an independent entity that was acquired by and later merged into KBB may be wrong. It's left so little trace in places where traces might reasonably expect to be found that I think it equally tenable that CPF was always simply a brand of KBB.
Of course that's just speculation; but then at this point CPF remains so much of a blank that the room for speculation is great.

Regardless of CPF's genesis, they made a great pipe, at least in my opinion. I have a silver-banded billiard with a red Bakelite stem that's amongst the favorites in my collection of estate pipes.
