Welcome, fanren! What’s tobacco shopping like in China? Do you have much pipe tobacco selection? Is it expensive or cheap? And do you guys get taxed on it?

There is no channel to purchase tobacco domestically in China. Generally, the only way to purchase tobacco is through overseas sourcing, which incurs a 50% tax.

Welcome! Which province are you located in? Curious to find out if there are domestically produced blends available in China and where do you go to buy imported blends.

I am in Shandong Province. There is no tobacco for pipe use in China, so we usually purchase tobacco from Smokingpipes.com and pay a 50% tax.

I am surprised to hear that there's no domestic brand of pipe tobacco in China. Given the extraordinary size of China Tobacco Company and the quality of leaves they produce I thought perhaps there might be some. I suppose its the same as everywhere else, then. Cigarettes are what makes profit sense.
