Ah! A fellow-Michigander! Hello! Do you know of any good pipe/tobacco shops in the state you can recommend? I love a good day trip and that would be fun to add to my short-list if you have any recommendations! ~EK
I second Paul's Pipe Shop in Flint. Arrowhead is best described as a "kitchen sink" automatic that is the house blend.

Campbell's Smoke Shop in East Lansing has a smaller selection, but very friendly.

I'll page @Laurent for shops in Grand Rapids and @Es0teric for the Downriver attractions.

Howdy from Idaho. Welcome to the forum!
look into getting a few Missouri Meerschaum cob pipes. Great smokers and the value for the cost is great! Enjoy the wonderful “world” of pipe smoking!

Welcome from Saskatchewan, Canada! Do you have an idea of what kind of pipe you would be looking for next?
Thanks Jiminy! I'm wondering about meerschaum lined briar. It seems like the bowl might not get so hot? I tend to gravitate toward the billiard style - either bent or straight. Wish I knew more about them. I'm trying to read up on why folks choose one type over another. I know some folks swear by the corncobs. I haven't tried one.

Northern MI as in the UP? Or as in northern-lower MI?
If the latter, and if you ever get down to mid-MI, I've heard great things about Paul's Pipe Shop from @RevBriar.
Welcome to the forum, from NE WI!
Thanks SBC! Are you near Door County? Our family is originally from Green Bay (Hence the EK_Packers - LOL!). We're in northern-lower peninsula. I just flew out of Flint a couple weeks ago. I'll make a point of getting to Paul's Pipe Shop! Thanks for the recommendation!

Thank you! I definitely have Paul's Pipe Shop on my list, and I'll add Campbell's Smoke Shop in East Lansing, as well! There's some good breweries over in that area!

Hey EK, another Michigander here, currently a troll. If you are near Traverse City you should check out Nolan’s Tobacco and Cigar Bar. They have pipes and a decent selection of C&D tobaccos with some bulk choices. Not the selection of Pauls by any means but might be closer till you can get there.

Nice! I've always been intrigued by the meerschaum lined briars, but I've never pulled the trigger on one myself. Maybe if I smoked more consistently haha.

Also, I'm a billiard guy myself. It probably comes down to my idealization of what a pipe should look like... and I'm ok with that. Most of my friends love corncobs, but I just have never taken a liking to them. Cheap to try out, so you aren't losing much of anything if you want to try it! In fact, one of my friends uses a cob nearly every day

EK,
I'm in Niagara, just across the river from Iron Mt. MI. So, a little over 2 hrs. from Sturgeon Bay. I take my wife and kids to Door Co. at least several times a year. In fact, as of last summer, we're card carrying members of the Maritime Museums there ;-) My parents are near Appleton.
If you're ever driving back through the UP and will be through Niagara, PM me if you want to have a pipe together!
