Occasional Cigar Smoker for about 25+ years mild to mediums mostly.
Always seemed to lean towards Drew Estates "unfused" Acid line (Kuba Kubas, etc). Due to the flavor and slightly better room note for the misses (in garage, and outside on patio, around firepit, etc, never in house).
I tried pipe smoking years ago with a very cheap cop and cheap tobacco when I was at the CI Cigar Fest in PA. We had no idea... just "packed a bowl like it was a bong (when we were kids) and hit it with a torch" lol. So that was the end of that. lol
Decided to give it a try the right way for my 48th Birthday (this Sat the 13th). Mainly because I don't have a couple hours to smoke a cigar, especially in the winter, so I rarely do (I have a collection of about 200 high-quality in my humidor just waiting lol) . Also when I get to more the halfway they tend to get hotter, stronger and I feel like I need to shave my tongue afterwards for a day or so (is this tongue bite?). And I'm only drawing on it occasionally (in between needed sips of a drink or beer) , so maybe still to heavy a draw , I don't know never really though about until recently researching pipe sipping and cadence. (Def will have to give it a try with a cigar next time).
So I figured a pipe woul be perfect.
As I always loved the smell, esp aro's.
Less time needed to smoke - I can easily find 30mins +/- and will therefore do it more frequently. And assume can even do 1/2 bowl if needed occasionally.
Liked the ACID and other high quality "infused" type cigars.
I assume and hope can smoke it slower and cooler then a cigar.
So I got 2 Falcons (straight and bent) and about 6 bowls (including 1 Meer lined). Figured the metal stem, humidom, dry ring and interchangeable bowls all made sense for a beginner. Keep it cool and dry and consistent in getting started.
Also got a couple bulk oz of:
Lane - 1-Q
Lane - RLP-6
C&D - Autumn Evening
Sutliff - Molto Dolce (tin)
Sutliff - Creme Brulee
Sutliff - Vanilla Custard
I've been reading a lot and watching videos, trying to get start off on the right foot.
It's been cold, snowy and rainy latelty. But I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and give it a shot soon!
