Greetings,
I've been to NYC exactly once, and after that one visit, I had absolutely no desire to ever return. This latest move by Bloomberg just cements my decision.
I had a reasonably good time during my visit. Stopped by DeLaConcha, spent some time at Nat Sherman, and made the obligatory trip to the Empire State Building. I enjoyed an excellent Italian dinner.
I grew up in So. California, in the L.A. area. Over the years, I had been to downtown L.A. dozens of times. Frankly, I've had my fill of big, dirty, smelly, overcrowded cities, and NYC was no different. Chicago is the same way. Even parts of downtown Denver. Phoenix, actually, isn't so bad.
I've met a lot of native New Yorkers that rave on and on about how wonderful New York City is. How everything you need is there. The excitement, the nightlife. The "vibe", if you will.
Honestly, I just don't understand. Give me the wide open spaces, endless views, majestic mountains, and tranquil deserts.
No offense intended to those who love the "Big City".
