Im going to New York in a few weeks with work. Was going to pop into a pipe store while there and had a look at Nat Shermans site. Seems like they don't do pipes anymore though? Can anyone recommend a good store to go too???
Indeed Barclay Rex is just across the street from Grand Central Station which is rather convenient. I think there is a Davidoff around there too.
And don't blame your "Englishness," everyone not living in New York State seems to think that NYC is the only part of the the state. Including our state government and the people of NYC.
Barclay Rex's 42nd Street location will host a pipe event Friday, with Steve Monjure displaying his goods (Ardor, Brebbia, et al.) Discounted prices and free tins with purchased pipes.
They do a poor job of publicizing, so I don't know what time is best to show up.
70 East 42nd Street, between Madison and Park. (212) 692-9680
There really are a lack of pipeshops in NYC. Barclay Rex, where I worked 55 years ago, when it was called Peterson's, might be the best, but buying online makes more sense. They do have 2 other stores.
