I know I was being a bit facetious here. I guess I felt like, we just got a blend Sun Bear, and here comes another one, and rhetorically speaking, is that a bad thing, it shouldn’t be.

And sometimes it just feels like trying to reinvent the wheel, or how many ways to skin a cat, LOL 😝

Feels like too at times just a spin on the same thing. 🙃

More tobacco choices should be something we enjoy. I guess the point being, it’s gets dizzy at times trying to keep up, with everything that keeps flying at us from one second to the next.

We smoke pipes to slow down, enjoy, contemplate, smell the roses, finally take in life, take in those moments that normally fly by us, etc., etc., etc., and it’s if, the pipe business at times doesn’t get this. But of course, they need to make money, we get it, but it just seems to goes against the concept of what it means to be a pipe smoker, as if now, we need to all fly around faster in the 21st Century, shop shop shop, buy buy buy.

hmm 🤔

At first glance this one looks like something I'd really like. Orientals, crumble cake, I mean sounds good right? But at the risk of some degree of ire I'm going to go ahead and say that this increasingly frequent combo of 2018 Izmir and 2019 Basma falls a bit flat with me. Now I absolutely ADORED From Beyond which had that combo if I remember correctly, but everything since that has come off a bit dull to me. It lacks some of that zesty, fragrant punch I look for in Izmir. But then again wtf do I know, and I'm sure I'm good for at least one tin for curiosities sake if nothing else.

Some yes, some no.

this increasingly frequent combo
One of the reasons I grew to dislike latakia blends.

Seems a bit late in the season for a Midsommar blend. That should have been released back in June.

Well it's up on SPC for $12.20. Love the tin art, they usually do a good job for Warped however I'm struggling to find the hook for this blend. I love oriental heavy baccy but there's not exactly a shortage of it available for regular sale.

Think I'll save my "limited edition" tobacco funds and social capital with the wife for the inevitable downpour of Fall heavy hitters.

Both true. Why bother trying to keep up? "Miss" one new blend, another is right around the corner. And the classics are always there.

That’s what I meant with my first reply and all the memes. It’s like one released, and before you can take a breath here comes another one.

Many people love variety, but at times it just feels like Quantity is always bombarding us over Quality.

We can all agree that everyone has different tastes, which is clearly evident with all the various blends being posted/smoked in the WAYS posts.

But, are we truly seeing the highest levels of quality we could ever buy today... hmm 🤔

I may not have the most sensitive palate, and I've only been smoking pipes a couple of years; but I think this blend tastes a lot like the Izmir and Basma have been added to Briar Fox.

That was my first thought when I saw it - looks like they tossed some of their fresh Turkish leaf into some Briar Fox.

I hate Briar Fox btw. I feel like I don't get to badmouth it frequently enough. It tastes like cardboard and envelopes.

I have 2 tins of it. One doing serious time, the other waiting patiently for a spot in the current rotation to open up. C&D's Sun Bear is the limited release I usually look forward to, oriental forward tobaccos are my favorite. But I couldn't pass on Midsommar. Fingers crossed.

Yeeeeeees, that's what that taste is in Briar Fox. The taste you get when you lick an envelope. That's exactly it, had a good few bowls of it and have never been able to nail what that flavour is. Hated Briar Fox at first, but have grown to like it somewhat.
