The 83 bulldog looks a lot like a Hillcrest I just got. Amazing smoker !A Briar pipe is a chunk of briar, plus a rod of vulcanite, add labor.
As the little boy said “Howdy do it know?” which hands made it?

Id think early 60s maybe. Just a guess...Picked up this unsmoked Starfire #27 in the original box at an antique shop. Still has the $5.95 price sticker on it. I wonder what that would tell about its age. Pretty pipe!

It's funny I have a lot of Grabows but no Omega!! Hah! I need to remedy that, but part of the reason is I didn't get into buying bent pipes until very recently. I only have one System copy pipe, a Chesterfield Yello Bole Premier from the 40s.I have only one Grabow in my collection; and, it's the smooth, bent-stem Omega.
I have to say this little "Drug Store Pipe" is like a beloved and trusted old friend. It's small, light, and the fake P-Lip bit let's it hang naturally off my bottom teeth with only the lightest of clench to keep it perfectly balanced in my mouth while talking.
No other pipe in my collection can do that one thing as well as the Grabow Omega.
I only bought the Grabow just to have one in my collection; and, boy did I get lucky with the Omega model.
I have a VERY similar Brigham Algonquin 223 shape, which cannot hold a candle to the Grabow; and, that's saying something, as I am such a HUGE Brigham fan. - Sherm Natman
I organized a tour of the Grabow factory which just happened in June. The GM was willing to do it on a day that their factory machinery was not in operation. We still got to go thru the entire place, and then had the opportunity to buy new / old stock stuff in the back room. I'll likely organize another next spring or early summer, in case any of y'all are interested. There's no charge...just the cost / time of getting yourself there, and some spending $$.They don’t do factory tours anymore but I did manage to get a pic of the bathroom![]()
Please send an announcement next year when there is another tour. Or dare I say a pre holiday tour??I organized a tour of the Grabow factory which just happened in June.
