They are great for any hobbiest that stores small items. I use them for fly tying.
ou can also make a nice little fly box by gluing a little foam to the bottom. You need to first air the tins thoroughly, preferably in the sun, or your flys might smell like tobacco. Trout and most game fish can smell as good as a bloodhound, so any taint of tobacco odors could repel your fish.
They also make nice containers for candies.

It dawns on me that I don't buy as many tins as I do bulk. I have jars everywhere but not very many tins.
Good Ideas presented here, tho!

I use empty McClelland tins for carrying .22 ammo. I shoot a lot of different types and this keeps them nicely sorted and sit perfect on the shooting bench.

I have them standing in the back of my cabinet behind my pipes, individual different ones. The wife has one she stores her four leaf clovers in and another for stamps we get from around the world. I have a couple I use to store those individual cleaning swabs for safety glasses and my half mask when away for work.

Okiescout,
Your char cloth idea just gave me the idea of keeping my gun cleaning patches in a tin. I buy those things in pkgs by the hundreds and usually end up transferring them from the original pkg to a ziplock bag. A tin or two would work just a good in my hear bag.

. Made 2 one for on the porch, that one has 2 clothes pins clipped to rim at an angle to function as a pipe rest with bowl btm resting on the knocker.

Love these ideas. Now I can replace the much smaller Altoids tin for something a bit more spacious and less likely to pop open unexpectedly.
