New to Pipe but not new to fine tobacco

I meant to reply to you but forgot in the hustle and bustle of the end of the year.
I appreciate your candid recommendation. I quite agree that aromatics probably wouldn’t be good for a cigar smoker. I have read of their similarities to acid, and that just isn’t my style. I will look into bulk blends for sure. I assume bulk blends should be my go to smoke.
If I’m going to be honest, I smoke occasionally and it’s not an every day past time. Even with cigars. I find keeping cigars in a humidor and taking care of them is the best part of the hobby. Then enjoying a good smoke after a while of caring for the cigar is like reaping the fruit of the seeds I planted.
With the pipe I’m hoping to have something a bit more relaxed with maintaining the soil, so to speak. As a Soldier cleaning the pipe is no big deal— but keeping stock of too much tobacco may find burdensome if I’m not smoking a great amount. I prefer social smoking, If that makes sense. Or what I have started to do now is smoke a bowl while reading my current book or doing my Bible study.
Anyway, thanks for the advice. I’ll check into some other tobacco.
Yeah I think Acids are the best comparison to aros. My brother mostly smokes cigars, he absolutely hates Acid but when he briefly dabbled in pipes he just had Captain Black and now he thinks all pipe tobacco is that way. I can't convince him to try other stuff. I wouldn't say that bulk blends "should" be your go to smoke but they're an affordable way to see what kinds of blends you like, many companies like C&D offer some blends in both bulk and tin options.
I don't smoke daily either, I probably would if I had an adequate air filter and could inside but I don't so I'm limited to when it's not too cold for comfort.
Interesting that you would say that. While I was toying with the idea of pipes, I did Lectio daily, and I found a pipe greatly enhanced the experience. ("Let my prayer rise like incense...") And as I type this, I am smoking what was said to be one of CS Lewis' favorite blends: Three Nuns. Can't recommend it, but it's still an interesting thought.
Any reason why you wouldn't recommend it? I am currently reading CS Lewis to my kids trying to give them some wholesome fantasy writing.
My first few bowls had some ...off flavors. As I am kinda moody, my mood shifted today, and I've had several. A tad harsh maybe, but it's my smoke of the day and may buy more down the road. I like to be careful about saying "buy This" when I'm not 100% sold on it (like the ODF.) Btw, I heard his other favorite was Capstan, so I'll keep that in mind for my next splurge. Enjoy!

I was a cigar smoker for several years before picking up the pipe.
The only aromatic I can smoke is C&D Autumn Evening. It's not goopy and overly sweet like most drugstore aromatics that are mostly cavendish.
It has a bold strong flavor, and a very nice aroma in the room. And unlike most cheap aromatics, you can actually taste the tobacco.
It's also one of the tobaccos that my wife can stand the smell of so if she's joining me on the patio, that's always the one I smoke.
