New (To Me) Charatan!

I received my newest Charatan in the mail today. It wasn’t in too bad of shape, but there was more gunk built up on the stem than you can see here. I got it cleaned up and ready to smoke!

I used to have a 58. It was a nice pipe. Love Charatans without that darned DC bit.

I have been finding that I prefer a smaller stem, and these Charatans are about as small as I have seen. Between the small bit and the light weight, it is almost like you aren't even using a pipe. I base this on the four Charatans I have (only one is a DC, and it is much heavier also).

I’m not sure, but probably Pegasus or Newminster 403 Bullseye.

Not that anyone cares, but that's an ideal pipe to me. Great pedigree, good wood, no silly decorations, extensions, or weird stem colors. One of Charatan's more traditional shapes--which is good, because some of their shapes leave me cold. Cool pipe.

these Charatans are about as small as I have seen.
I base this on the four Charatans I have (only one is a DC, and it is much heavier also).

The earlier Family Era Charatans are small(er) pipes and traditionally shaped.
The later ones (Lane Era) pipes got bigger, heftier and uglier (my opinion).
I also have no love for the "double comfort" stems.
