I have been finding that I prefer a smaller stem, and these Charatans are about as small as I have seen. Between the small bit and the light weight, it is almost like you aren't even using a pipe. I base this on the four Charatans I have (only one is a DC, and it is much heavier also).

these Charatans are about as small as I have seen.
I base this on the four Charatans I have (only one is a DC, and it is much heavier also).
The earlier Family Era Charatans are small(er) pipes and traditionally shaped.
The later ones (Lane Era) pipes got bigger, heftier and uglier (my opinion).
I also have no love for the "double comfort" stems.
