Bubba, obviously you figured out it was block meer. In the future, you ccn usually tell from the weight. Pressed meer will be quite a bit heavier than block. If it feels as heavy or heavier than a comparable briar it is probably pressed.

Excellent acquisition! I prefer the standard shapes as well. I dont know who made mine, discovered in an antique store:

My other meerschaum is much newer, about 10 years old, and my others are African, which are heavier and coated.
