New Skeeter Trap Not Working

Full disclaimer: We don't work with mosquitoes, per se, but rather with agricultural pests so I'm not sure what the lure chemistry for those suckers are dead means dead to anyone. Keep us posted on this situation as it unfolds please.
Also, don't go info one of those Brown Marmorated Stink Bug traps from the grocery store either. If we can't find a lure that works, they definitely haven't either.

According to the manufacturer Lurex is the only lure that will attract the Asian Tiger Mosquito and that's what I've been using. The other lure is for this unit is Octenol, which is for all other species. That's it. No I won't try any other trap. If this one's not going to work I don't know if any will. The Mosquito Magnet unit seems to have worse ratings although looks good to the eye and highly acclaimed on websites but, you can't go by that as I've discovered. I'm still not 100% convinced the fan's working right.

Down here a man in Gueydan has a bat house, don"t know how you get Bats, but the little house is ona pole way up, bats are supposed to be big mosquito eaters, he claims it works good. The old cajun

Ok get your money back . Buy two bags of Spectracide and spread it all over the yard . Then call the gas co and have them install a gas laterns with real glass sides and you will kill the hell out of everything that creeps or flys in your yard . It works for me and the light from the gas laterns will not keep you at night.They cost about 25 a month to keep two of them going full time and they look classy ..They also use regular Coleman mantels and can be adjusted for brightness .If you would like to try before you buy get out that old Coleman latern out of the garage and leave it running over night and count the dead bugs the next day . My father in-law has one almost like yours. The way they I thought they operate is they give off carbon-dioxide gas simulating our breath to attract them. He said it started working after running for a few days. I will have to ask how many dead ones he ends up with.

The way these Tiger mosquitoes work is that are like us and sleep at night. They're not out at nmight but are daytime feeders so, you have them from morning to late evening...wonderful. That's the time me and my dog are out. They're not your ordinary type of mosquito. How we got them here is anyone's guess.
I do have an update. I had tried the other lure and so far it's not working either. Called the manufacturer again today and went over everything I'd tried and done and they are going to send me another "engine" as they call it which is the top section of the unit. The fan is not working as designed as determined by me and they agreed after I told them the experiments I went through testing it...holding a piece of a grass blade close to it and a Kleenex. They said it should such either in and it's not. so, they're sending a new unit. I asked what about the one I have, should I send it back in exchange and was told no, just keep it for parts. Not a bad deal if I ever need to replace the igniter or other part.
Hopefully when this new engine gets here there will be better results. That's what they get for having this thing made in China.
