Just got this little bad boy. Was in pretty good shape and for a pretty good price. I like the nostalgia stuff.

This will go in my dad’s old hedgehog reamer he gave me.

After looking it over, and comparing it to my present Chinese made equivalent, I’m really struck by the fit and finish difference between the two. The quality difference is beyond my expectations for sure. Or maybe I just sourced a really cheap one previously.

In any case, you can really tell that this item was made with some pride. Any idea when it would have been made? It’s marked L&B. Made in GT. Britain.

Ahhhh, the British Buttner, great reamer. Unfortunately they do go dull after time and I tried to sharpen it. They even harden the steel, which makes sharpening them a bit tricky but it's a great thing they go through the trouble of hardening the steel, I doubt the knock offs do that.

You can still find the British Butter on EBay occasionally. I wouldn't buy anything else of that design other than a BB. There are other good reamers out there but no where near the price of a BB. I believe they were for sale in the pipe shops in the late 80's. That's when I bought my first.

Yeah. I’d love to know the approximate age of mine. Everything available in a search says the 40’s, but I know they were made for a long time.
