Thank you, gentlemen, for all the compliments, but I can't take all the credit, the seller had aready done a good job of bringin' her back.
As for the White-Out fix:
If the stem has been Cloroxed with the emblem unprotected, the depression will "fill in" a bit. If that happens I'll get the jeweler's loupe out and chase the depression out with a pointed tool to deepen it a bit. (not easy, one slip and "$H!+!!)
If you Vasaline coated the emblem to protect it during the Clorox treatment, just dig out the remaining paint.
White Out shrinks up when it dries, so I use several very light coats, (be sure to keep the air bubbles out as they'll end up as little holes in the finished job). I let each coat,(usually four coats), dry for a half hour or so without removing any excess....just let it build up on the stem and don't worry about it 'cause it's gonna get sanded off anyhow.
Using at least 800 grit wet-dry paper, gently and slowly sand the White Out down till it's almost all off the stem. You will probably have to use several sections of the sandpaper 'cause the White Out will clog it up rather quickly.
Gently take the rest of the excess off with 1000 grit and then 1500 grit,....finally polishing and waxing the stem on your buffer.
