Thanks guys, I am having a real problem when I relight my pipe as Ash goes everywhere even though I have tampered it down and don't blow out. I would appreciate any help solving this matter (not sure if emojis are aloud so apologies if not.) J.

probably are breathing out a little, which happens or there is wind. I assume you don't dance when relighting though if you do that is the issue. You could do what I do which on relights which is tamp it dump the ash by turning the pipe upside down. and if the underlying tobacco is pretty even relight and if it's really uneven tamp it even. I do that because I think it taste better that way.

Welcome from NYC. Perhaps you are filling your chamber too close to the top. Try leaving a gap and see if you still get ash flying out.
