Greetings from the Cayman Islands!

I started with aromatics; however, I learned quickly that the pack and cadence make a huge difference in the smoke. One nice puff every 10 seconds or so usually keeps my bowl pretty cool. There are times when I get a natural flow going and don't strictly adhere to that rule as well. I just "feel it", and my attunement increases with experience.
Should you pack a aro loose or tight

With no packing at all
Exactly. Aros need more oxygen to burn. Tamp only when you cant get it to light, and then only with the weight of the tamper. Fully rub out the tobacco and drizzle it into the chamber. As you fill, tap the heel of the pipe against your palm to settle the contents and continue to fill this way until the pipe is as full as you desire. After the charring light, use the tamper to settle the rising tobacco then light again and enjoy.

I will give it a try thanks

Welcome.
You already got good advice above, but reinforcing some of them again

For aromatics

1. Smoke slower
2. Dry more - I am primarily a non-aromatic smoker, and I have heard that too much drying makes aromatic tobacco lose flavor, but try drying a little more
3. Smoke it in a Meerschaum - It will dry the smoke, a little in the shank when compared to a briar
4. Sip not puff - All pipe tobacco is more enjoyable when sipped. English and burley is much more forgiving than aromatic and Virginia in this regard

My boiler plate advice to new pipe smokers is to buy blends in small quantities -- an ounce or two bulk, one tin, a pouch. Don't buy anything in quantity for a year or two, even if you love it because your tastes will change. Blends you don't like, put in a sealed jar for a year or two and try it again. Include some plain Virginia and plain burley early on, since they are used as base tobaccos for many blends and well as condiments with each other a wide arrays of other leaf. Keep track of what you like and look for those constituents in other blends. Take your time. Have fun with it, researching and smoking in a relaxed way. You're the king in your smoking area.

I have the best solution for your predicament, quit Aromatics at least for now and enjoy some Latakia mixtures. You might also try Va/Pers as a sidekick to Latakia. I think you already found what works for you, no need to complicate things.
