Wow! Those Dutch ice skaters are so good they can skate on water!!
Not to hijack this topic, this picture is taken during a 250 km skating tour (for most) / race (for some, marathon ice skating is actually a sport) Elfstedentocht - Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elfstedentocht . Some parts of the canals, lakes or even small bits of water are not completly frozen, they have some points they measure the ice and decide "it giet oan" which means something like "we can race". Sometimes the ice underneath bridges is to thin, they have to run on their skates a short period of time on the shore.

Hello! I have been lurking here for 2 years. Time to join. My name is Carol. Yes, I am a female pipe smoker. Not sure if that is rare, but I don't know any others. I started smoking a pipe about 7 years ago, with a clay pipe and some wild tobacco. Just an occas bowl. About 2 years ago, I decided to get real, bought a corn cob pipe and a couple kinds of tobacco. Now I have 5 pipes, and 14 kinds of tobacco. My favorite pipe is still a cob, although I have a small briar I like a lot. My favorite tobacco so far is Mississippi Mud from C and D. And Trout Stream from 4 Noggins. Having a bowl every day or 2. Learning a lot, and enjoying reading this forum. Thank you.
well pipe smoker male female or even not sure is pretty rare these days. I don't really know more then a handful of pipe smokers from outside of these forums. Not a lot of openly ladies on the forums but doesn't mean they're not here.

Wow! Brave souls, those Dutch! Finest skaters in the world, since Hans and the Silver. :)

Yes, I've noticed. When I was a youngun, I knew lots of pipe smokers, including my grandfather and 2 uncles. And I have a picture of my great grandmother, sitting on her porch, smoking her handmade cob. (Guess I come by it naturally, eh?) But you're right, not so common anymore. Well, we're here, on this and a few other forums.
