New Pipe

Does anyone have a "favorite" or "go to" tobacco for breaking in a new briar pipe? I've broken in a few and they always seem to have a sharp or bitter taste at first.

Everyone knows a good slathering of butter really helps break in a pipe and give it a nice toast flavor.
(Please, no one do this)
I usually just start with some VA's

Half and Half is my go to. For some reason its the only time I smoke half and half.

No one baccy in particular. But since I have changed my baccy tastes, I would say CH, Walnut, Half and Half or Sugar Barrell

Are you cleaning your pipes?. Old tobacco residue can cause bitterness.
