Welcome.. Amigo.
I'm inebriated and silly at the moment, so feel free to ignore anything I say.
First off, a flyboy should get some tobacco that emulates his position. Squadron leader comes to mind, with the nifty biplane on the tin...
Secondly, that is an attractive pipe. I normally don't dig saddle bits, but that one works nicely. As it's a meerschaum pipe, it should do well bouncing from blend to blend without "ghosting" much, although it may run a bit hot.
If you want to get a variety of stuff to try without breaking the bank, Pipes & Cigars (dot.com) is having free shipping on $50 or more through this weekend. You can get half a dozen options for a reasonable price. Don't forget a cheap tamper or two and some pipe cleaners.
I'm ignorant on aromatics, but John Cotton's #1 (non-aro english, kinda sweet) was my intro blend and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Follow MSO's advice on getting small portions of many blends and you won't feel like you're dumping cash into things you don't like. Add a few MM's to the order and you'll hit free shipping land in no time. Usually it's $99 for free shipping, so take advantage!
Mothernature, I remember Basic's for $5.56 a carton at the commissary when I got out in '93. Now a pack cost that much!
I hear the beer in the fridge calling. Excuse me....

Welcome back and welcome to this forum, honestly the most helpful and inclusive places online I'd say.
*Group hug*
Best piece of advice I got on here when I started: don't overthink things and enjoy. It's easy to get lost in the expertise of some of the guys on here. When Jessie (sablebrush) or Mso489 tell you something you listen.
Happy puffing! :puffpipe:

Anthony 74:I see you know guitars and therefore, I'd like to hear you opinion if square neck Dobros or hawaiian steel guitars(to be played with finger picks and slide) are more complicated learn to play than traditional acustic guitars.
