New Pipe Question

one of the new pipes I bought today appears to have been vanished or waxed inside the bowl. it's got the sheen of a light treatment of sorts.

Has anyone else come across this before? is there anything I should do before I start to break the pipe in?

pictures would help, are you sure its not just a pre-carbon bowl?

I would roll up a piece of paper towel and dip it in Everclear or 151 Rum. Then give the bowl a good going over with that. I think it should remove whatever it has been coated with.

I ran across this on a couple, the first one I tried to smoke through till it went away, which it will, but it wasnt pleasent, the other I cleaned with alcohol almost like it was a estate.
BTW its probably stain, thats what waaas in mine
