New Pipe I Finished

Well, as an example of a freehand pipe with a plateau top it is superb. Unfortunately, I hate plateau tops.

So I wanted a long stemmed rough grained v style pipe (not sure what the shape is called ?) Anyway they cost a fortune and I like making pipes so I got myself a block of pre drilled briar and off I went. I used a pre existing stem which I counter sunk into the tenon , the finish is natural shellac , just trying something new (the walls are extremely thick so the heat does not affect it ) not a particularly amazing grain to it. But I think it came out quite nicely . A nice chest resting pipe for use while reading in my study .

I really like the aesthetic of a pipe using the briar's plateau. Looks great!

Not sure what I'll make next. Considering a nice bulldog perhaps . The bowl coating is a thin lining of plaster of parish mixed with activated charcoal and salt, mostly to prevent the taste of burning briar

I love the taste of burning briar. Try a radica or a Castello and you might agree.

Very nice job ! And there is some grain in that briar that I think may darken up as you smoke it, contrary to some experts' !!
