I'm looking to add in another pipe In my collection. I have quite a few different shapes in my collection, but generally enjoy a lovatt, Canadian, and bent billiard. Usually when I am looking for a new pipe I already have something in mind, but I can not make up my mind this time. It is between the Savinelli Bing's favorite, Peterson 221, Bringham Klondike straight billard, and a Vauen at my local B&M (I just can't remember which shape code it is).
I have several Savinelli and love the way they smoke. I have never smoked a Peterson, Vauen, or Bringham and cannot decide what to do. The PAD says but them all, but as of right now the budget will only allow for one. As of right now I am leaning more towards the Vauen, but am not finials with them. I am looking for input, see if anyone has any experience good or bad with the mentioned shapes and brands.

They are all good pipes. I don't think you need to worry about any of them disappearing as they are all pretty well established companies and "shapes."

If you like Savs, I'd say go for the Bing. I have smoked one and I enjoyed it. It's a longer pipe and will give you a nice smooth, cool smoke.
In the price range you are looking in, I love the Briarworks classic crimson lovat.

The bing- some of them are 7" long. Measure your pipe cleaners and see if they will fit in the pipe you're looking at. If not , you'll need to buy a 100' length and custom cut or use church warden cleaners if you like to use a cleaner while smoking. Have your vendor check that the drilling is centered within the bowl. Some pipe have bowl coating.
Peterson 221--really nice looking shape. All bowls are coated and new pipes will very often have stain which necessitates you smoke ass flavored chemicals for your first half dozen bowls or you soak a few cotton balls in booze in your pipe overnight to remove it prior to smoking. Do not buy unless your vendor has throughly inspected your pipe for drilling. Be aware putty fills are obscenely common on smooth finished Pete's.
Brigham--don't have a clue, they seem to look really nice.
Vauen-very nice looking pipes for the money. I don't own any because they finish many of their pipes with a plastic-like sealant which may or may not cause an issue. Sorry, that's the best I've got.

I support my local shops as much as possible, and I'd like to get a Vauen sometime.

You can always smoke Savenelli without the balsa filter, with or without an adaptor (which gives a little tighter draw). If you feel the need for a Peterson, right now SP has a selection of the Dublin Edition series in a wide selection of shapes for $79 and change, a price point we haven't seen for full-size Petersons in a while. As 'tango mentioned, all of these brands are regulars, so you will be able to buy others later, as you can.

All great advice, and thank you everyone for your input. I have been checking out SP and have looked at the Peterson and have been leaning towards them. Hopefully I can decide soon.

Predjudiced, because everyone who knows me (one or two fellows) knows my passion for Peterson, but you simply can't go wrong with this marque. I favor the 106 and 107 (good luck finding the 107--I think it's heading for extinction because it's such a large pipe). Half of my collection is composed of Petes.
