New Member Looking to Identify Some Pipes

Hey everyone, I'm fairly new to the world of pipe-smoking. Along with getting into the rhythm of things, I'm trying to learn about the history of some of the pipes I own. Nearly a decade ago my grandfather passed away, and while he was an avid cigar smoker and not a pipe smoker, I happened to inherit his small collection of pipes. These pipes were passed down to him either from his father or my grandmother's father. Since I'm looking to start using them sometime, I'd love to learn as much as I can about them so I can pass along their history as completely as possible.

The only one I think I've been able to find anything about is the Royal Duke Imported Briar, but even then, it wasn't much. I found that it was similar to a lot of Dr. Grabow pipes, but it lacks the identifying features. Instead leading me down a Duke Dundee rabbit hole. Because as far as I could find, those are supposed to predate the Dr. Grabow nomenclature. Even with that information, I couldn't find any photos matching the look of the pipe I posted. As I said though, I'm by no means a pipe expert, so everything I just stated could be completely wrong. I'd love any information anyone could give me, as it's my favorite pipe of the lot.

As far as the other pipes go, I have no idea what any of them really are, so I'd appreciate even the smallest bit of information. A huge thank you in advance for any help!

According to an older reference book titled "Who Made That Pipe", the Royal Duke was made by Linkman, who did own Dr. Grabow.

As @ssjones said, the Royal Duke is a M. Linkman/Dr Grabow pipe, and it looks like a carburetor (the small metal orifice in the front of the bowl) It likely has a screw in stem, so turn it CCW to remove it or risk over clocking it. The Californian was likely made by KB&B but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Thanks for all the insight everyone! I'll keep my eyes opens for any more information I can find. I'll look into KB&B and see if I can find any pipes that match.

Glad to be here! Thank you. I've learned a lot just by joining the site and perusing the forums, and I'm positive I'll continue to learn more. The plan is to pass them and their story along some day.

The Royal Duke looks to me like a sweet little find. Nice score.
