Still practicing but semi retired. My practice is being run by a former intern from Cornell that spent a few months at our practice a few years ago.
I do surgeries for several local vets. Surgeries that would otherwise have to be done in Buffalo or Erie PA. Bone stuff, vascular stuff, nerve stuff, you know, the PIA stuff most vets don't want to do. :)
I would much prefer working on a 2500 pound Belgian with a toothache than a 400 pound lady in a bathtub....just saying. Other than the ABCs, not much transfered over. I actually understand animals ailments more than peoples. Dogs never swear to god they're having a heart attack, when in fact they just ate too many tacos. :)
hahahahah. the last part really rings true.

but it sounds like you still keep busy. sounds like really awesome, challenging work too. great you get to customize your schedule

Welcome from Washington State.
For only taking up the hobby about a year ago, you've acquired a nice collection of pipes. Nice display too! I like the Dr. Octopus watching over the pipes. LOL As an 80's kid, I still have toys on display in my Man-Cave.

Hello. Wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. New member. Loving this forum and reading about others experiences with the pipe.

80s kid, youngest of 7 with an older dad who smoked a pipe, captain black only. He passed 2005. Took up the pipe a year or so ago because it reminded me of him and I was looking for something to help me slow down a bit.

Im a firefighter/paramedic in ohio and everything always seems like go go go, just in general with the world really.

Still trying to figure out what tobaccos I like, so far everything ahahaah. Still honing my techniques.

Married with 4 young kids. thanks for having me.

Hope this is the right place for this.
Welcome and greetings from Miami! I’m a new member also - just a few months. Everyone has been very welcoming to me. Good luck finding time to smoke with 4 little ones around!

I tend to enjoy light English blends in the morning, EMP for example, then Virginias or VaPers in the afternoon - really like H&H pure Virginia, Capston blue, and Director’s Cut right now - and after dinner something like salty dogs, plum pudding, Night Train, pirate Kake (if I’m craving Latakia) or Nightcap. Coming from a cigar background, pipe tobacco is so varied and so reasonably priced that it’s easy to go a bit nuts. In the last 6 months, I’ve probably picked up 20 pounds of about 30 different blends for what I would have spent on 3 boxes of cigars. I won’t end up liking all of them, of course, but such fun.

It’s great that you have that memory hook with your dad. I don’t have that. My dad never smoked a pipe, but my grandfather did and I have strong memories of his pipes. Codger blends only, of course.

I mostly smoke C&D/GLP blends and my go-to is Pegasus. Those are some great tobaccos that you listed off.

Some other blends I enjoy are C&D Opening Night, C&D WInchester, C&D Burley Flake #1, and G&H Kendal Mixed.

pegasus was the first blend i really got buzzed with. i respected it a lot more after i stood up to take a piss and fell back into my chair, lol.
