Hi all, very new to the pipe smoking hobby, have been smoking cigars for a number of years and finally bought myself an old pipe. J.A.X of London if anyone has ever heard of it, I can't find any info on it all.

Lots of good info and advice on here to get you started up right. There is nothing I could find with a quick Google of your pipe sorry.

Welcome! I'm not familiar with JAX pipes, but in England, there has to be a huge variety of shop type pipes available.
"Who Made That Pipe" lists a JAX pipe (no initials) and says it was made by J. Jack & Co/England. Google didn't yield anything on that name.
