We have some new legislation introduced here in South Africa which prevents any tobacco products being sent through the postal system in South Africa or from overseas. This now obviously prevents South African's from buying any unique tobacco's from overseas and it also prevents us from even buying a from a licensed retailer in South Africa. This means I now have to drive and hour and a half to get to my favorite tobacconist. Lovely to once again see our taxpayers money hard at work.
Here's the extract from the legislation:
4 Prohibitions in respect of tobacco products
(5) (a) No person shall sell, offer to sell, supply, distribute or buy any tobacco product through the postal services, the internet or any other electronic media.
(b) The prohibition contained in paragraph (a) does not apply to any commercial communication between a tobacco manufacturer or importer and its trade partners, business partners, employees and shareholders.
