We have some new legislation introduced here in South Africa which prevents any tobacco products being sent through the postal system in South Africa or from overseas. This now obviously prevents South African's from buying any unique tobacco's from overseas and it also prevents us from even buying a from a licensed retailer in South Africa. This means I now have to drive and hour and a half to get to my favorite tobacconist. Lovely to once again see our taxpayers money hard at work.
Here's the extract from the legislation:
4 Prohibitions in respect of tobacco products

(5) (a) No person shall sell, offer to sell, supply, distribute or buy any tobacco product through the postal services, the internet or any other electronic media.

(b) The prohibition contained in paragraph (a) does not apply to any commercial communication between a tobacco manufacturer or importer and its trade partners, business partners, employees and shareholders.

You'll have to start a business relating to tobacco, that way you can circumvent the law :) I don't know the laws regarding start-ups in South Africa, but usually the fee for starting a one-person business is low. Maybe not feasible, but it would be a nice kick in the balls of that retarded legislation ;D

We have a rule similar as this here in Brazil.
Don't tell anyone, but we still buy and sell via postal service...

It's this way, portascat. Some 10 years ago they started a war against smoking here in Brazil. As the pipesmokers are the weakest, we are unable to have a several kind of tobaccos - even a simple english blend or a burley.
Well, the pipesmokers haven't died or stopped smoking. We've got our way to get things. I just think it's bizarre to buy pipe tobacco outlaw, but despite I love my country and people here, my government is something really bizarre. None of you will never believe somethings that just happens in Brazil.
Keep smoking!

probably not. I am having a hard enough time believing some of the crap happening here in the US.
However, I may abuse your hospitality one day. Would 5 lb. or Prince Albert be enough to get you to introduce me to a couple of your beautiful women?

Uhmmm... No! But if you get me 5 lb of C&D Black Duck I would introduce you to Gisele Bundchen on a Maracana cabin to watch our soccer dream team playing the very final of world cup 2014!

So South Africa is passing legislation restricting liberties?
You would think they would have learned their lesson.
