I have noticed in the latter part of today a hashtag sign (#) appears at the very end of everyone's post....what is that all about?
I have tried clicking on said hashtag but nothing happens so can someone please elucidate?
Regards,
Jay.

Here
It's a "post number/ID link", so you can refer to a post.
HERE's one from my Reaming question posting, as a URL.
Copy location, just like posting photo, to link to it.

Very nice.

For those missing this... first find a post you'd like to pass along, maybe even here on the Forum but in under another topic.

Your initial click will just sort of wiggle the page, but look up in the long location header (where the info on the current webpage is shown).

The basic URL, or web address, now ends with something like:

[...] #post-1153981 --- That's the whipped cream with the cherry on top for pointing someone to the specific post within a thread/topic... even if it's on page seven of that thread!

Jay, perhaps a step by step approach would help.

A week ago, or so, you posted a response in the thread "Packing Pipes With Small Bowls".

I could direct you to that thread, but you would then have to scroll through the thread to find your post. Nasty business for long threads.

However, if I click on the target post's hashtag, its URL (with post ID number) would appear in the Address Bar for that page and post.

I can now copy the contents of the Address Bar, and use it as the URL that takes you directly to your post -- no scrolling required.

E.g. http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/packing-pipes-with-small-bowls#post-1149894
ps. snowyowl beat me to the punch.

So what you're say is:
1. Click on the hashtag, which gives you the exact post in the URL descriptor at the top of your browser page.
2. Then select, copy, and paste the newly detailed URL into the URL link in the menu above the reply window
3.linking to a specific post becomes an easy thing to do.
It's not a new feature. People have been doing this here for years, but I could not figure out how they did it.

Can't we get those post notification emails with the links in them to have this information so that it takes you directly to that post in the thread? It really is my biggest frustration with this site that I have to find the post in a long thread. It's the only forum I know that I use that does not seem to do this.
